Identify yourself as a constiguent from the legislator's district (or whatever your circumstance - you might have a business in their district or are a friend of the legislator)
Ask to speak to the representative or senator in person. If they are not available, ask to leave a message requesting their support of House Bill 84 or Senate Bill 210, the Tennessee Interior Design Consumer Protection Act. Communication from constituents is important to a legislator; you can be assured that your message will be received.
If you are connected with your legislator, call them by their formal name, Representative (last name)/ Senator (last name), or simply call them Representative/ Senator.
If they are one of our bill sponsors, be sure to thank them for their support. In the House, our sponsors are Rep. Janis Sontany, Rep. Rob Briley, Rep. Thomas DuBois. In the Senate, our sponsors are Sen. Bill Ketron and Sen. Joe Haynes.
Be sure to thank them for their time.

Use your own stationary, business stationary is preferable.
Be sure to include your name and home address if you are addressing legislators in your district. Include your office address if you are contacting the legislator in the district in which you have your business.
Personalize the letter as you wish. The existing text is a guideline to get you started. Make sure you delete any of the blue or red text prompts.
